STATEMENT As a movement artist, my aim is to foster empathetic experiences that bridge the gap between individuals. With this idea, I envision my work as performative experiences that invite the bodies of audience members to connect with the bodies of performers. I'm driven by the idea of creating a shared space where feelings, sensations, and thoughts can be collectively explored. My artistic interests centers on the concept of interconnectedness, viewing the self as part of a larger, interwoven ecosystem. I seek to cultivate this interconnection in my performances by blending various artistic media, thereby questioning the power dynamics between humans on stage and other scenographic elements. In my choreographies, performers are part of a whole, rather than central to it. Lately, I've been particularly fascinated by the dialogue between my internal landscape and the external world—how my body, as an ecosystem, mirrors and interacts with the natural systems around it. I’m interested in how the intricate networks within us resonate with broader networks of life, focusing on fascia dance and movement techniques as a way to become a living network connecting to other beings. Slowness, sustainability, and degrowth are essential ideas in my performative practice. I believe that only through slowness can we fully feel, understand, and empathize with the other earth-bound organisms—both human and non-human—with whom we share this planet. I want to create art towards this goal of togetherness and sharing.

BIOGRAPHY
Céline Bellut is a multidisciplinary artist, performer, and choreographer whose work explores the boundaries between dance, performance, and visual arts. She trained at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Germany, earning a European bachelor's degree in contemporary dance in 2012, where she immersed herself in the artistic legacy of Pina Bausch, an emblematic figure of the institution.

Between 2016 and 2023, while based in North Rhine-Westphalia, Céline established herself as a bold creator of transdisciplinary stage performances. Among her notable works are SUDDENLY, A SLOTH CROSSES THE STREET(2023), A PERFORMANCE IS A LONG QUIET RIVER (2021), and HOLD ON (2019), all co-produced by Tanzhaus NRW Düsseldorf and Tanzfaktur Köln, two institutions that have supported her work since 2017. Her artistic practice also extends to film and installation, with projects such as HOLD ON, still not live (2020) and the performative video installation Ja est BI est BI est BI (2018–2020).

Her artistic universe has been showcased at numerous festivals and cultural venues across Germany, including Ateliers de PACT Zollverein in Essen, Favoriten in Dortmund, Zeitzeig in Bochum, Explosive in Bremen, First and Further Stepin Krefeld, as well as FREIRAUM Salon #18 – digital agora in Düsseldorf, and Tanz.tausch, Rh(ein)far, Auftakt, and The Artist Are Present in Cologne. Her artistic commitment has been recognized multiple times: A PERFORMANCE IS A LONG QUIET RIVER was nominated for Best Choreography at the Kölner TanzPreis 2022, while her solo JA est BI est BI est BI won third prize at the Euro-scene Leipzig solo competition in 2017.

As a dancer, Céline has collaborated with renowned artists, including Alexandra Pirici, performing for her at the Venice Art Biennale in 2022. This experience further deepened her interest in visual and transdisciplinary works. She has also worked with the inclusive company DIN A 13 Dance Company as an assistant choreographer and participated in the MADE (Mixed-Ability Dance Education) program between 2018 and 2020, reflecting her commitment to accessible and inclusive dance.

At the beginning of 2024, Céline relocated to Marseille, where she founded the dance company EGG. In this new chapter, she reassesses power dynamics in art and takes a step back from traditional creation, anchoring her reflections in post-humanist thought. Her artistic research revolves around political and ecological issues, as well as economic degrowth, while exploring new interdisciplinary practices.

At the same time, Céline is reconnecting with ceramics and exploring biomaterials, such as mycelium and mold cultures. She also cultivates a blob, symbolizing her fascination with non-human life forms and organic processes. Today, she is dedicated to a hybrid artistic practice that merges dance, ceramics, and biomaterial experimentation in a continuous quest for renewal and interdisciplinarity.

In 2024, Céline embarked on a three-year training program in fasciapulsology at IFFC France, a manual therapy technique focused on the fascia. Fasciapulsology aims to restore the body's natural self-healing processes by manipulating and rebalancing the fascia, the connective tissue network essential to the body's overall function. This expertise enriches her artistic practice by offering a deeper understanding of the body's internal dynamics and its self-regulation mechanisms.
